The dedicated farming community comprises around 320 individuals who work tirelessly in the lush terrain at the foothills of Mount Kerinci, situated on the beautiful island of Sumatra. This region is significant as Mount Kerinci is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, known for its geological activity. The historical eruptions of this volcano have enriched the local soil, making it exceptionally fertile, which in turn supports the cultivation of high-quality coffee beans.
The coffee harvested from this area is collected by hand, ensuring that only the finest beans are selected. Once gathered, the coffee cherries are transported to a central processing facility. Here, the processing begins, followed by a move to the central mill, which operates as a small washing station. At this stage, great care is taken to sort the coffee meticulously, ensuring that any imperfections are removed. Subsequently, the beans are dried on African beds, an essential step that allows for optimal flavor development. Throughout the drying process, the coffee is sorted once again and stirred regularly, promoting even drying and enhancing the coffee's overall quality and taste profile.
