A total of 2,389 farmers collaborate with the Incuti washing station, which is situated in the picturesque Kayanza Province region of Burundi. This cooperative effort underscores the dedication of local farmers to producing high-quality coffee that reflects the unique terroir of their land.

Once the ripe cherries are delivered to the washing station, they undergo a rigorous sorting process in which they are soaked in clean water. This crucial step allows for the separation of perfectly ripe cherries from unripe or damaged ones, ensuring that only the best fruit is selected for processing.

Following the sorting phase, the ripe cherries are processed using a natural method. After being thoroughly washed, the cherries are spread out to dry on traditional African beds. Each batch is carefully attended to—stirred every hour to promote even drying. This meticulous drying process can take up to 28 days, allowing the cherries to develop complex flavor profiles, such as those characterized by notes of buckwheat honey, currant, and dried pear. The attention to detail at the washing station ensures a premium product that resonates with coffee enthusiasts around the world.
