Salvador San Francisco — a coffee named after the star Vega from the Lyra constellation. It is part of the coffee universe created by Andrés Salaverría, a fifth-generation coffee farmer.
Andrés quite literally grew up among coffee beans. His family has been cultivating coffee for over 100 years in the regions of Apaneca-Ilamatepec, Atiquizaya, and Concepción de Ataco in El Salvador.
The coffee trees on the family farm grow at an altitude of 1,500 meters, surrounded by rich volcanic soil and a cool mountain climate. Coffee cherries are handpicked here, selecting only the ripe fruit.
The harvested berries are sorted by ripeness, then fermented in an oxygen-free environment, and finally dried in special bags.
As a result, the coffee reveals notes of blackberry, melon, fermented apple, and dark chocolate. Thanks to this unique combination, Vega EKI received a score of 88.50 points from the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association).
