This coffee comes from the Twongerekawa cooperative, located in the mountainous Gakenke region, near the volcanic park and a rare population of mountain gorillas. The lot is grown at elevations up to 2200 meters exclusively by women farmers, each tending a small plot of about one hectare. The cooperative unites more than 1,200 such producers and is certified organic and Fair Trade.
The women work with Bourbon-variety trees, enrich the soil with natural compost, and handpick only the best cherries. This is followed by 12–18 hours of dry fermentation, washing in mountain water, and long sun-drying.
The result is a delicate, clean cup with pronounced apple notes, citrus freshness, and a subtle currant finish.
