Alonso Bustos is a second-generation farmer from Colombia. He has been growing coffee for over 50 years, and lives on the El Mirador farm with his children, wife, and grandchildren.
In 2017, his children convinced him to try growing specialty coffee. That's when he planted Tabi—a rare variety with a large bean and resistance to coffee rust.
The processing is natural. He collects only ripe cherries and dries them, constantly turning them to ensure the flavor is even and bright.
"My coffee is the result of conscious effort," says Alonso. "I want everyone who drinks it to feel the time and care I put into the bean."
The taste in the cup is deep, with wine notes, a dense body, and a noble fruity acidity. The profile includes: passion fruit, lychee, dark rum, and red wine.
